Booklyn Heights

Visiting Brooklyn Heights was a great experience because I haven’t expected to see  beautiful places in Brooklyn like this neighborhood .

My favorite place was the promenade. I loved the niece view of Manhattan and I also liked the contrast between the pieces of the statue of liberty and the big skyscrapers. It was a great experience to be in that place.

The peace on NYC

At this Little place, where you discover that New york city is also a quiet place if you decide to stay in that way. Too many people choose to do with life a time game instead of finding the peace just in watching the world and clouds moving. This was the most interesting place for me because I did not see a lot of people running in the daily life or with long faces. The world just kept in silence for a while.

Broklyn

Last friday we meet at Broklyn, we apreciate a beatiful view in Broklyn Bridge. The neighborhood it's really nice; it's more clean than other neighborhoods and I think it's a nice place to visit.

DISCOVERING BROOKLYN HEIGHTS

Brooklyn Heights is a beautiful neighborhood in New York City; the houses are beautiful and they have a lot of history. Take a walk here is like walking in a Hollywood movie. It was my favorite part of Brooklyn definitely. I would highly recommend this place for other tourists; it must be on the agenda whenever you visit NYC.

Despite the cold weather...

Despite The Cold Weather

Despite the cold weather; I liked the tripe we had last week, seeing those beautiful mansions which were live by wealthy people.

I loved this view that we can see nearby Brooklyn Bridge!

...and what can I say about this image? I really like this image because the view, the color effects, the building in the  background.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn seems to me a very interesting neighborhood in New York. It is a place that is not much visited by tourists but it has beautiful views and interesting places.

Brooklyn Bridge  is an example where you can have a beautiful view of Manhattan´s buildings.

A poem || Brooklyn Bridge.

Just a few words to describe the quantity of feelings that this bridge produced in me. I love the Brooklyn Bridge because it looks like an old construction from many centuries ago, and when I see the buildings around I realize where I am and the contrast is really beautiful. Also, it looks very romantic and homesick; like a camera that records all the love stories...

 And now, a poem c:

 Monster of stone

What are you connecting?
How many souls are you holding in your arms of metal?
How many centuries will you be kissing the River?
How many skies will you be reflecting?

I saw your eyes of stone yesterday
they were looking above me
but they couldn't see me
but they couldn't catch me.

I will never say goodbye to you
Maybe my tears will...
I will only move around, protecting you
saying we'll see us again.

Monster of stone: don't kiss the River
Stare at me during the morning, during your centuries...
Monster of stone: never shiver
Instead, stare at my eyes of mercury.

Big houses

This is one of the big houses in brookly. this one is kinda a mansion, or used to be. now most of the big houses that were built a lot of time ago are appartments, store or office.
New york is growing very fast and they need more and more places to live and more places for bussines.

This side of brooklyn is one of the most expensive neighborhood to live in new york. but is one of the pretiest neighborhood.

I wish I could've started from here.
Now it looks way better.
I guess looking at things from the inside,
quickly changing, moving and turning around
isn't always wise.

Sometimes it's better to look at things from the distance.
To look at them from the outside.
Slowly walking, as senseless noon
shoves cold wind in your face
along with the distant sounds
of the life you love and hate.

I wish I could've started from here,
looking at life from the outside...

This week we went to Downton Brooklyn that is such as a amazing place as Manhattan, it was really fun get to know the other side of the city, special because Brooklyn it so big and has so many things.
The park was my favorite part of all, in this place you are able to se all the city and stay near to the beach also you can see the Brooklyn bridge and under this an amazing carousel that makes you feel like magic, everything was beautiful.

Brooklyn Bridge

This Friday was a wonderful day. We visit many exciting places but the one that I liked most was the Brooklyn bridge park. It has an amazing view of Manhattan. All the nature that has on it. Is an excellent place for having relaxing time because you can go to run, exercise yourself or just go and sit and reading a book. I thing that at night it will have a better view with all lights in Manhattan. Is was a great experience, I hope I will be there again.

Dumbo!

even though i have been in this part of Brooklyn before, it was such a great time to enjoy the view at daylight. All the history that involves the park above the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge it´s worth the cold weather. Such a good luck that every Friday is cold. I think that the part that i liked most, was the Grand Theft Auto recreation of the sky, i mean it comes from a video game and its being shown in a public part, that´s amazing.

Also the view from the neighborhood of the Jehova´s witnesses is amazing tho, and walking under the Manhattan bridge and also the postal of the empire state between the space under the bridge is very cool.

Mixed emotions in Brooklyn Bay.

Mixed emotions in Brooklyn Bay.
While we were walking by the river, I found a couple of die herrings lying on the water. I take one of them and these fish make me wonder.
The view was beautiful and I can see the river, the buildings, and a park in construction on the water.
A construction that is able to remember about the storms and the force of the winds and hurricanes.
Quiet and peaceful flowing water that hide an enormous power when is disturbed.
Silent and death, the herring was witness of my steps walking by the river.

BOROUGH HALL, 1848

Brooklyn Borough Hall was the first building I saw when we started our class, and it capture my attention, I think it is beautiful and interesting. I learn that it was designed by architects Calvin Pollard, and Gamaliel King. It was completed in 1848 to be used as the city hall of the former city of Brooklyn. In January 1898 the independent City of Brooklyn merged with the City of New York, and Kings County became the Borough of Brooklyn, at which time the building became Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Into Wall street

i´m glad that we had to know this part of the city, because i had not realized how many details it has. The weather wasn´t that favorable for us, but i have to applaud that we handled the situation very good. i would say that my favorite part was at the city hall, where all over the park there were these pieces of the statue of liberty. I think that is pretty amazing though.
THE FINANCIAL HEART OF NYC

Wall street is one of the most famous streets in the world; here are located the main financial markets in the world. Wall St. is the home of the New York Stock Exchange, the world largest stock exchange. The buildings here are beautiful; you can feel armony and the passion for the economics. New York City has been called the principal financial center in the world. The street has a lot of historical buildings such as the Federal Hall. This city has a lot of things to discover, and also tons of places where you can feel like if you were in heaven.

City Hall Tour

We walk arround the city hall the last friday, and we learn about the history of some buildings that was very interesant also the view was amazing!

Even if a haven´t had the chance to take part of the tour with my class, I was able to visit the same places as you all did. The most interesting place that I found was the park near to the city hall station which has some pieces of the statue of the liberty. I had the chance to take a close view to these big parts of the statue and to see the original color of them. Another amusing place was the new world trade center and the small church that it´s in front of this huge skyscraper. Inside this church there is a memorial for all the police and rescue teams from all around the world who helped to save lives after the 9/11.

When the original Federal Hall was demolished in 1812, a few remnants were saved. The large brownstone section of the balcony floor upon which George Washington stood was removed to the grounds of Bellevue Hospital, where it was exhibited for many years. In 1889, the stone was returned to its original site and displayed here at 26 Wall Street in the U. S. Subtreasury building (now Federal Hall National Memorial) for the commemoration of the centennial of Washington's inauguration. It was also covered with a thin skim of cement in order for the inscription to be applied.

Winter Garden.

An amazin place that is located by the Hudson River. We come back there a few times to get a lunch in the great restaurantes enjoying the beautifull view of the river.

The red square

For me, this was the most interesting art of the day because it's a simple and beautiful red landmark in the heart of New York. And reminds me that there is no necessary to do something huge and creative to catch the attention of the people.

The Freedom Tower

Last Friday, we got to see one of the tallest buildings in the world, the Freedom Tower. We walked around the area a lot, but this building was, by far, one of the most beautiful I have ever laid eyes on. Even though the reason why that building exists is rather tragic, it's good to know at least something so beautiful was born from it.

Public Art by Danh Vo

At City Hall Park you can observe some of the public art by the artist Danh Vo who recreated the Statue of Liberty in cooper material, nevertheless he never intend to assemble the pieces of the statue, this public art is call We the People as the first words of the constitution of United States of America.

Around city hall park

This park is surrounded by beautiful government buildings.

Also inside the park you can find some copies of parts of the statue of liberty.

Frank Gehry building

Frank Gehry Building

One of the building that I liked more about our Friday tour was the Frank Gehry building. It was so amazing to visit that building because in my listening class we were talking about his architecture, and how his designs are so innovative, He uses different angles that make that his building be so recognized. It's a very tall apartment building and it has a great look.

City Hall Park Tour

City Hall Park Tour

In this tour we can appreciated in so many different ways the New York City, we be able to saw the pieces of the statue of liberty, that made me wonder about the real meaning about it because all the times i though about it was just a nice island and nice pictures but i never thought about the winning and the liberty that represent for North American people.

After this we saw the amazing partwei of NYC, this weird building made by a famous artist is incredible, later we explore the art that manhattan has in the streets and it was choking because being in the middle of all this tallest buildings make you feel like a little bit lost, but  the art that we were able to saw made me feel like there is people that still care about other people.

And last but not least we can saw a incredible view of buildings that remains me the incredible that NYC is.

Shadows and Flags in Nevelson Plaza

This week we visited Lower Manhattan, a place that combines the oldest buildings with interesting modern buildings and pieces of public art, one of the places that got my attention was the Nevelson plaza. This space is located on Maiden Laine and Liberty Street, and it´s one of the first to honor an artist woman in New York City. The artist is Louise Nevelson, she designed for this plaza a serie of sculptures that she called “Shadows and Flags”. These sculptures, made of steel and painted in black, seems to be floating like flags due their height and sunlight creates shadows that gives them a sense of dynamism and movement, and contrast whit the buildings of the whole area.

What are we?

Little pieces,
simple, shapeless, taken for granted.
You see them from afar and you ask,
why are they even there?

Little people,
deformed figures and grinning faces,
piled up together,
under a thousand bright lights.

What are we?
Why are we even here?

No need to ask,
we're nothing on our own,
we're part of something bigger,
we have always been.

The Pieces of the Statue of Liberty

The Pieces of the Statue of Liberty

Seen the pieces of the Statue of Liberty located at City Hall Park were amazing, the park is more interesting than I thought because its history and, as we can see there, the color of the pieces is the original color of th copper; not like the green color of the statue.

Also is very inetresting see those pieces in the park because we can admire them near an it allows imagine how big is the statue!!!

The neighborhood is beautiful because the blend of differente styles, new and modern buildings and many others colonial and gothic.

A poem ll National September 11 Memorial

When I see the Memorial,
I see all the tears of the World.
I see an empty heart
and I stay without a word...

Rivers and a hard cry
from the sky and beyond
twerking lips looking for a song
and finding nothing than a bound.

Pain and sadness...
They are not good words,
but are the only ones that I can see
drowning and drowning through the spring.

Hi, class,

Someone asked me about Brooklyn Flea.  Unfortunately, in the winter it goes indoors and we won't see it at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Friday, Dec. 5.  In any case, it's only on Saturday and Sunday. and this year at 1000 Dean Street, Brooklyn.  If you want to see what young entrepreneurs are making and selling in Brooklyn, this is a fun event and a good place to shop for the holidays.

See you in two weeks.

The american museum of natural history

This building has a lot of collections and databases about anthropology, astrophysics, biology, Earth and planetary sciences, and paleontology. In this museum works more than 200 scientists who carry out in diferente expeditions around the world doing researchs. The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions. Since its founding in 1869, the Museum has advanced its global mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.

Strawberry Fields

John Lennon was killed when he was going trough his apartment in Dakota Building, in the edge of Central Park when I was 9 years old.
When I were young I use to lisent to her music as a Beatle and the music he make in the late days of his life. I grow being his admirer.
That´s why I was looking for a picture in Strawberry Fields, near the small design over the park, the "famus" mosaic composition, the sign that resume all his life: Imagine.

Astor Place Tour

Last Friday, we got the chance to walk around Astor Place and learn interesting history about it. My favorite part, by far, was just walking next to a "random" K-Mart and minutes later, realizing there had been a big riot years ago on that place.

But really, we just learnt about the history of certain buildings, like the Cooper Union University, which had been free until last year, We even looked at a massive building that had extremely expensive apartments. All in all, I think I can speak for everyone by saying that Astor Place has amazing buildings, which are art themselves. Now, that's just in Astor Place alone. New York is a very vast place full of art, which we are still exploring.

Astor Place Neighborhood

I would like to comment about the contrasts that Astor Place Neighborhood has.
I like old buildings but also I like the contrast that makes modern buildings that are in this area.

Discovered New York

The last friday we went to discovered more about New york like the history of the k-mart that is in front of Astor station, also we visit a place who have a bigger Rabbit made of baloon created by Jef Koons in 2005-2010 that is a good example of things that you can see in the city. Finally we visit the company of Fb in NY too.
